Atherstone Adders Hockey Club was established in 1953 and played all of its home matches at Atherstone Cricket Club in North Warwickshire, UK.

In the 60’s the grass pitches became unsuitable and the Adders played all of their home games at Woodhouse School in Tamworth until the 70’s. From then on the Club became nomadic as it played it’s home games in Nuneaton, Chelmsley Wood and more recently at Earl Shilton.

Then, quite dramatically, nearly 60 years after it was formed the Club finally gained access to its very own astro pitch in the heart of Atherstone at QE School on Witherley Road.

The Adders run a Men's 1sts, Men's 2nds and Men's 3rds teams who play their hockey in the East Midlands Divisions of the Midland Regional Hockey Association League.

There are also three Ladies teams who play in Divisions 1, 4 and 5 of the Warwckshire Women's Hockey League.

The Club also runs two successful Badgers teams who play League hockey on Saturdays.

Summer hockey is also very popular within the Club and there are Mens and Ladies Summer league teams, plus a Sunday Mixed Team along with regular Friday night social hockey - followed by a re-hydrating drink (or two) at a local hostelry!

The Junior section of the Adders is rapidly expanding and the lifeblood of the Club as they provide the Club with the first team players of the future. Junior coaching is on Wednesday evenings at QE school. The Club has Junior sides in many age ranges including U8's, U10's U12's and U14's.

The Club also has a very active social side. Regular tours take place to festivals such as Blackpool and Weymouth and also overseas tours to the Caribbean. The Club has twice been to Barbados and once to Trinidad & Tobago.
