In the absence of league fixtures for this weekend, the 3rds invited potential Mens’ 4th-teamers and selected others to participate in a selection match for teams in the New Year. 30 players arrived to play, with the late addition of Christian for the Whites. Badgers 1st-teamers Joel Bickley and the Currie brothers were assigned to the Red Team, with the original 3rd team midfield transferred over to the Whites.

Donkey of the Day: Jade Meer for a slide worthy of Ray at the opposition goalie.
Saturday 8th December was host to the match of all matches; the Ladies 3rds mini golf tournament at Ghetto Golf in Birmingham. It was a close affair with Jade Meer eyeing up a victory only to be dashed at the last moment by 'queen of the swingers' Jill Thomas whose swinging on the hockey pitch was ample practice for the challenges of mini golf.

The local derby both equally as strong. Hyped up to play and determined to beat Nuneaton.

Ladies 1sts 3 v 4 Olton 3rds

On a windy Saturday morning Atherstone faced a young Olton team in their last game before Christmas. After a draw the previous week, a much needed 3 points would do nicely before the break.

Burton M3 3 v 4 Mens 1sts

The Adders Mens team scraped through into Round 3 of the England Hockey Championships by narrowly beating last season's semi-finalists, Burton. Atherstone, missing key players, failed to impose their superiority on the Burton team and were almost victims of a 'giant killing' scenario. However a hat trick from Sean Hirons and a goal from Chris Currie was enough to see them into the next round.
