Having secured their status in Division 1 the previous day, the Women's first would have been forgiven if turning in a jaded performance. The start to the game was less than conventional with a limited warm up due to access to changing facilities being restricted. Terrible traffic lead to a late arrival from Lucy A . A sick child and no sleep had Alex eventually finding the gate to the pitch after the whistle had blown.

Atherstone arrived to their home turf determined to keep their winning ways on track. From the whistle Blossomfield started with majority of the possession, keeping the Adders defence on their toes.

Player of the match: Charley Dodds

With so many near misses this season, both in the D and on the scoresheet, the Adders 3rd team were determined that this was a game we were going to win. With added pressure of a win prophecy declared by Lauren Hart, it was going to hurt more than the 5-0 spanking we had against the University of Warwick to admit the runes were wrong to Matt Hilton if we lost.

An Adders victory in this re-arranged league encounter would guarantee the League title and take it beyond a mathematical probabllity. The visitors had been on a run of fine form of late having beaten both Tamworth and Nuneaton. It was important that the Adders stuck to their usual game plan and treated Buxton with respect.

Scorer:Chris Currie
Man of the Match –Chris Currie – Scoring a fantastic goal.
Donkey of the Day – Jimmy Meers for not mixing up his aerials and giving Barton too much forward notice of what he was going to do.

What a farce. I have never seen such a literal interpretation of the rules in my whole hockey career and that goes back to the war. Nobody was allowed to play hockey, neither ourselves nor the opposition. Two of the Barton players even apologised to us after the game.
