Adders Warwickshire Minis : Rugby October 2018

The Adders junior section were out in force today with the U10, U12 and U14 teams taking part in the Warwickshire Mini Hockey Tournament hosted in Rugby. The tournament was well supported by Warwickshire Clubs with teams from Leamington, Nuneaton, Rugby & East Warwickshire, and Stratford taking part. It meant all teams were able to play multiple games, giving them the chance to build momentum across the tournament and put learning into play as they faced each match.

The U10’s team started the tournament for Adders on a high, winning three games out of six and conceding no goals thanks to great goalkeeping from Edward Kobrin. Julian Roberts scored a hattrick, together with two goals scored by Andrew Curry and one by Monty Fisher.
The final results were: Adders 0 - 0 Rugby; Adders 0 – 0 Stratford;  Adders 2 – 0 Nuneaton;  Adders 3 – 0 Leamington B; Adders 0 – 0 Rugby B;  Adders 2 – 0 Leamington

The U12s team also had a great tournament, with a hattrick scored by Max Thompson-Moore and a great goal from Jack Hobbs. With only three goals conceded thanks to the combined efforts of goalkeepers Felix Roberts and Henry Shepherd the U12 team were thrilled to win two games against Nuneaton and Stratford, together with three draws and losing one game to Rugby.
The final results were: Adders 0 - 0 Rugby A team;  Adders 1 – 0 Stratford;  Adders 2 – 0 Nuneaton;  Adders 0 – 0 Leamington B;  Adders 0 – 2 Rugby B;  Adders 1 – 1 Leamington

The U14s team had a tougher tournament and with a smaller pool of teams they played slightly longer games to make the most of the match opportunity. Of the four games they played they suffered three loses and one draw, conceding eight goals, but two smashing goals from Ellis and in the final game, Leah Azzorparoli provided a satisfying end to a hard-fought tournament.
All players are to be congratulated for their great sportsmanship and many thanks to the coaches Jill Thomas, Mick Thomas, Yvonne, Anthony Hobbs, Christine Kobrin, Emma Snowdon, Leanne Edden and Kara Edwards who patiently nurture the Adders junior teams to take on the teams at today’s tournament.
