Adders Warwickshire Minis : Warwick November 2018

The Adders junior section were, once again, out in force with the U10, 2 x U12 and U14 teams taking part in the Warwickshire Mini Hockey Tournament hosted by Leamington, at Warwick School.  Rain was forecast but the sun shone as the Adders once again proved they can compete against any team on their day! Leamington themselves, fielded 14 teams and there were also teams from Olton, Edgbaston and Nuneaton.

The U10’s team, playing only their second tournament, once again showed how great they are as they won their pool league without being defeated. New players, Martha Nield, Georgia Flavell-DobsonAllen-Stubbs and debutant goalie, Kieran Orchard all performed excellently as early nerves soon faded. In their Pool games they won three and drew two but their best performance was a 3-0 win over Leamington Panthers. This meant that they finished top of their group!

They then progressed through to the final, only to lose in a cruel penalty shoot-out competition. Second place out of 10 teams is a great performance!
Special mention must go to Kieran Orchard, playing in his first ever tournament as a goalkeeper. He did a great job and everyone is very proud of his performance.
Thanks have to also go the coaches Yvonne Davies and Rory Kobrin who superbly marshalled their squad and led them to the final.

The U10's team: Kieran Orchard, Jimmy Prince, Andrew Currie, Monty Fisher, Logan Allan-Stubbs, Blake Kobrin, Julian Roberts, Olivia O'Brien, Connie Barden, Georgia Flavell-Dobson and Martha Nield.

The Adders entered two U12s teams into the tournament. The teams, known as the Red Adders and the Black Adders performed really well as they  'grew' into the competition. The Red Adders were second in their group and ended in overall third place, while the Black Adders were third in their group and finished the tournament in 5th place overall.

Thanks go to Cameron Hobbs for coaching the Red Adders and Mick Thomas for looking after the Black Adders.
