Rugby Gold 4 v 2 Adders Black Badgers

Scorers: Luke Iliffe, Bradley Wakefield-Davies
Player of the Match: Edward Kobrin, Izzy White
This was a closer game than the final score suggests. The game saw Badgers take the lead by a goal from Bradley Wakefield-Davy. He was assisted by Izzy White playing the ball into the D for him take a successful shot on target. Although Badgers had other opportunities to score, Rugby’s goal keeper kept them at bay.
The opposition however pressured the defence but a ball passed to an unmarked player secured their first goal. Badgers undeterred and not giving up saw some great play from Emily Bewsher, Charlie Blood and Rory Taylor passing and trying for the net. Rugby pressurised and pressurised scoring their 2nd. In midfield Tom Stokes, Joseph Callery tried with determination to send the ball up to Joseph Callery but were denied by super defensive play from Rugby.
After a half time talk, players got to grips with out smarting the opposition, with some skilful and thoughtful moves that resulted in Luke Illife pushing home Badgers 2nd goal. Not being out smarted Rugby caught Adders midfield and defence out, by nipping in their 4th goal by some smooth one to one passing. Jacob Trollop and Felix Roberts along with Thomas Parsons made some excellent stops that were on target for the goal. Zach Haywood as always never gave up running and put extreme pressure on Rugby by enabling some excellent long hits to our forwards.
One our youngest players from Badgers 2’s 10 year old Edward Kobrin was drafted in, for the usual 1st keeper who was on County duty and what a debut! Edward had an outstanding game making many great stops and kick outs to keep the score lines within reach. To top it all he received joint Man of the Match shared with Izzy White who again gave her all to really push the Rugby defence with attack after attack into the D.
A closely fought game that did not reflect how they are playing as a team and the huge improvements in their skills.
