Leicester 2nds 0 v 9 Mens 1sts

Scorers: M.Webb(4), S.Hirons(2), C.Hobbs(2), K.Ford

Atherstone Mens 1sts completed their perfect season with 22 league victories out of 22 and picked up the league title 11 points ahead of their nearest rivals. In a great week in which two of their players were also selected for England squads, the Adders were determined not to let this game spoil the party.
Leicester, though, had different ideas. The young side pressed the Adders hard for the first 15 minutes as the visitors struggled to find any rhythm following a two week fixture break. The Adders broke the deadlock from a well executed short corner and then began to relax into the game.
From then on there was only one side in the contest and a steady procession of goals followed.
With the score at 3-0 by half time, the Adders knew that they needed to manage the game in the hot conditions and ensure that players were not injured or exhausted for the Cup semi-final the following day.
Sean Hirons showed what a superb asset he has been to the team this season with two fine goals, and Keelan Ford contributed to the final total with a superb reaction and overhead shot following a rebound from the keepers pads. Cameron Hobbs added two more goals to his seasons tally to take him into double figures and 6th place in this seasons Adders top scorers league. Skipper, Martin Webb grabbed four goals to take his seasons tally to 40 and also put him on top of the MRHA South East Premier league top Scorers league.
A perfect end to a perfect league season....
