Coalville M1 1 v 7 Mens 1sts

Scorers: M.Webb(3), J.Wagg(2), C.Hobbs(2)

With the League season now only a week away, the Adders Mens 1st team challenged themselves by playing a team two divisions higher in the Midland Regional Hockey Association. Knowing that this was going to be their toughest test in their pre-season preparation, the side were eager to see what challenges the opposition had to offer.

Playing a new formation, the team required some time to settle into the game and the fast pace and tempo of the opposition caused a few early problems for the Adders side. However as the game progressed the team slowly took the supper hand and forced a penalty corner which was cooly converted by skipper, Martin Webb. The Adders then doubled their lead when their high pressing forced a turn over and a superb through ball from Keelan Ford straight into the path of Cameron Hobbs. He didn't break his stride as he smashed the ball past the static home keeper from the top of the D.
The Adders were in the ascendency with Coalville looking anything but a side playing two divisions higher than the Adders. With the Adders defence totally dominating the Coalville forwards and the midfield looking confident on the ball, the home side were often chasing shadows.
A succession of Adders goals followed and the scoreline was 6-0 before Coalville managed a shot on target from a short corner. The shot was deflected past keeper Will Parsons for the first time this season.
The Adders had the final say though when a superb counter attack involving Chris Currie and Cameron Hobbs, resulted in some cool inter play between both of them before Hobbs tapped in the ball past the stranded keeper.
The team will be hoping that they can replicate this level of performance for next weeks first league game of the season - we shall see!
