Don't you just love the drama and excitement that a cup game can generate? The Adders M1 looked to be going out of the competition as they were 3-1 behind with only 5 minutes of the match remaining and then everything changed!

The Adders, who were last years cup finalists faced fellow league side, Berkswell in the last 16 of this years Cup. Berkswell had already lost twice to the Adders in the league this season, the last defeat being a morale sapping 10-0 defeat. However on this occasion they surprised the Adders as they dominated the early exchanges and were worth the opening goal of the match and the early lead.
The Adders were without several key players and the younger Adders players were being physically dominated by their counterparts even though they showed more composure and skill on the ball. Slowly, though, Ben Matthews and Keelan Ford they began to assert themselves as the home side started to tire. However there was a game changing moment following a rash challenge in the D by the Adders defender, Arran Hall. The resultant penalty was superbly saved by the young goalie Will Parsons and the Adders held on without conceding any more goals until half time.
As predicted the home side started to tire in the second half and the match seemed to going the Adders way when Josh Wagg superbly finished off one of several short corners. From then on it was all Adders as the midfield attacked relentlessly, prompted by Robert and Will Currie, as the went in search of the lead.
Berkswell though had different ideas and counterattacked superbly as they came up with two breakaway goals to take them into a seemingly unassailable 3-1 lead. Despite a string of further short corners the Adders couldn't narrow the gap as the Berkswell defenders displayed heroic defending when it mattered.
Then, with single figures in time left on the clock Cameron Hobbs scrambled home a Chris Currie cross to give the Adders a slight chance and then when Jack Bullmore finally swept home another Adders short corner the scores were even.
Shortly after Bullmore's equaliser the whistle went for the end of the game and the penalty shoot out competition that would decide the winner.
Will Parsons in the Adders goal then stepped up and became the hero of the day as he confidently saved the opening two Berkswell penalties and when Lloyd Crowley and Josh Wagg scored their penalties the Adders had a clear advantage. Jack Bullmore then scored his second goal the day before Daman Johal secured the shoot out victory with a confident penalty of his own.
So a 4-2 victory sees the side through to the quarter finals for the second year in a row and a home tie against Southampton - the side that they beat in last season's semifinal.
