Loughborough Town M3 1 v 13 Mens 1sts

Scorers: M.Webb(6), C.Hobbs(4), W.Currie, W.Parsons, D.Johal

The Adders Mens 1sts notched up their biggest win of the season, Martin Webb helped himself to 6 goals, and there was also 4 goals from Cameron Hobbs as the side totally dominated a struggling Loughborough Town side. The Adders played without a goalkeeper for the last 20 minutes of the second half as Will Parsons was switched to centre forward and he even grabbed himself a poachers goal!

The game started brightly for the home side as they passed the ball around confidently and put the Adders defenders under pressure with some tactical aerial passes. However, once the Adders readjusted their midfield formation to match Loughborough they began to assert themselves on the game and a steady succession of goals followed.
The opening goal and the first of Webb's six goals, was a routine short corner drag flick. Hobbs then helped himself to the first his four goals when he deflected a shot past the stranded keeper. From then on it was Adders as Loughborough heads went down.
With the half time scoreline at 6-0, it was just a message of 'more of the same' for the second half. Will Parsons, in the Adders goal, found himself switched to centre forward as Webbs side chose to remove their keeper altogether and it was no surprise when Parsons also got onto the scoresheet with a typical goal poachers strike.
Playing without a keeper comes with risks but the Adders defence held firm until the last two minutes of the game when the home sides centre forward found himself free in the D with the goal at his mercy. However the Adders 'never say die' attitude was typified by Jack Negus as his last ditch tackle prevented the striker from scoring. The umpire though awarded a penalty which was converted by the home side.
This could not take the shine off another Adders victory which leaves them two games away from their third successive league title.
