Saturday 8th December was host to the match of all matches; the Ladies 3rds mini golf tournament at Ghetto Golf in Birmingham. It was a close affair with Jade Meer eyeing up a victory only to be dashed at the last moment by 'queen of the swingers' Jill Thomas whose swinging on the hockey pitch was ample practice for the challenges of mini golf.
Half time refreshments of cocktails and tequila shots spurred the team on to some excellent individual performances; most notably Rachel Roberts multiplying her balls on hole 11 and Maria Lancaster's six inch conundrum.
The first match of the day was a deceiving score line of 4-0 to Long Buckby which doesn't do the Adder's justice. A proper game of two halves. The Adders played fantastically well with some amazing chances but couldn't convert the well placed shots into goals. Ray Small did her traditional going down taking out a couple of the opposition and making some incredible saves. Alix Wheeler and Jade Meer both throwing themselves quite literally into the game both for the Adder's and their own personal goal competition (Alix is currently winning 2-1 for the record).
A member of the opposition was sent off for dangerous play and arguing with the umpire but unfortunately we couldn't capitalise on this advantage. The team are very grateful to Sally Oldham who did a wonderful job of organising substitutions and generally keeping us organised on the pitch. Special mentions to Rachel Roberts and Maria Lancaster for playing two matches and to Ray Small for containing the urge to headbutt the opposition.
